Carolyn Beale

Carolyn Beale is exhibiting at 48 Alwyn Road (Venue 12)

Painting, Printmaking.
Carolyn paints in a variety of styles and media, though watercolour was her first love. For the last few years she has been experimenting with printmaking. She enjoy the techniques of linocut, woodcut and collagraphs and loves the excitement of the uncertainty of outcome. Every print is unique, as is every painting.

Carolyn paints in watercolour, acrylics and mixed media, inspired by nature. Recently she has been developing her skills in relief printing, mainly linocuts.

Carolyn has always loved to draw and paint, and she is a self-taught watercolour painter. She has experimented with other media and will do more in the future, but at the moment, the challenge of watercolours still offers plenty of scope.

Carolyn grew up in the Yorkshire Dales in a family of amateur artists.  Surrounded by beautiful countryside and nature, it is not surprising that with an artistic horticulturalist father and a degree in Geography and Botany, that she should take this creative focus.

Having travelled widely in Europe and Asia, exploring the art and architecture of many differing cultures and countries, Italy and India being her particular favourites. Here is a wealth of subject matter just waiting to be painted.

Carolyn now has more time to paint and has joined local art groups which provide stimulating and enthusiastic company as well as motivation and constructive criticism to push the boundaries.  Painting at home in her garden summerhouse is her year-round retreat.
